Availability of New Relic in China

New Relic
New Relic
The Service
New Relic is a unified telemetry platform for application performance monitoring (APM), infrastructure monitoring, logs, user experience, and AI‑driven alerts. It provides code‑level visibility, distributed tracing, SQL and external service monitoring, andSynthetic Monitoring. New Relic’s UI supports interactive querying via NRQL, anomaly detection, and correlation across data domains. Integration with Kubernetes, cloud providers, and CI/CD pipelines makes it a go‑to platform for modern DevOps and SRE teams.
Availability in China
New Relic is partially available in mainland China. Its SaaS data ingestion and UI endpoints are located outside China and suffer similar constraints—high latency, timeouts, and intermittent connectivity. As a result, alerting, trace capture, and dashboard access are unreliable for domestic hosts. Remote teams may attempt proxy workarounds or feed New Relic from overseas servers, but these are not robust solutions. Chinese observability tools—such as FuxiOps (ByteDance), Zhiyun (NetEase), or Alibaba ARMS—are often preferred for apps operating in China. For multi‑region setups, a hybrid observability strategy is recommended: global telemetry via New Relic, and local monitoring via China‑compliant tools.
