Availability of Google Slides in China

Google Slides
The Service
Google Slides is a web-based presentation editor that allows users to create, edit, and collaborate on slide decks in real-time. A part of Google Workspace, it supports importing/exporting PowerPoint files, adding multimedia, embedding charts from Sheets, and sharing for live presentation. Teams can co-edit slides with comments and version history. It offers templates, animations, and integrations with tools like YouTube, Jamboard, and Slides API. Google Slides is used widely for educational, business, and marketing presentations, especially in remote or distributed environments.
Availability in China
Google Slides is entirely blocked in mainland China as part of the country’s broader restriction on Google services. Users cannot access the Slides interface, nor can they view or collaborate on shared presentations unless using circumvention tools. Even embedded or published slides on websites are unlikely to render for users in China. This restricts the ability of international businesses to share decks with Chinese partners or distribute training materials via Slides. Domestic alternatives such as WPS Presentation (from Kingsoft), Tencent Docs Presentation, and Zoho Show (China version) provide some similar features, but often lack advanced real-time collaboration or direct integration with other services. Developers embedding slideshows or generating presentations dynamically in their apps should avoid depending on the Slides API. A compliant solution would involve server-side rendering or using embeddable tools from a Chinese cloud provider that supports static or dynamic slideshow display.
