Google Jamboard

The Service

Google Jamboard is a digital interactive whiteboard developed by Google as part of its Workspace suite. Designed for collaborative brainstorming and remote teamwork, Jamboard allows multiple users to simultaneously write, draw, and insert sticky notes, images, and shapes on a shared canvas in real time. Jams (the whiteboard documents) are stored in Google Drive, and the service is accessible via the web, dedicated mobile apps, or on the physical Jamboard hardware device. It integrates with Google Meet for whiteboard-based presentations and supports stylus-based interaction on tablets. Jamboard is popular in educational settings, design thinking workshops, and virtual classrooms, and provides visual collaboration features that complement Google Docs and Slides.

Availability in China

This service is not accessible in mainland China due to regional network restrictions.

Google Jamboard is fully blocked in mainland China. As it is tightly integrated with Google Drive and relies on real-time sync with Google Workspace services, none of its core features are accessible without circumvention tools. Users in China attempting to open or participate in a Jamboard session face timeouts and service denials, making the tool unusable for education or collaboration with Chinese teams. Furthermore, embedded or shared Jamboard links fail to load due to DNS-level blocking of the jamboard.google.com domain. Domestic whiteboard alternatives such as Tencent Whiteboard, Baijiayun, and Lark’s whiteboard feature (Feishu) offer partially similar functionality, but lack Jamboard’s integration with the broader Google ecosystem. Developers should avoid using Jamboard APIs in apps targeting Chinese users and instead explore SDKs provided by local education/cloud platforms. As of 2025, there are no signs of policy shifts that would allow Google Jamboard functionality to resume in China.
